Durst Group to acquire MPS, expanding its label printing platform

 

 

 

Durst Group has agreed to acquire the holding company of MPS Printing B.V., adding flexographic press technology to its digital and hybrid label-production portfolio. The transaction, announced in Brixen and Chicago during LOUPE Americas on 15 September 2026, remains subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.

 

 

Netherlands-based MPS, which supplies flexographic printing systems for label and flexible-packaging production, will join Durst on 1 January 2027. It will trade as MPS – A Durst Group Company while continuing to develop, manufacture and market its existing product range.

 

 

The company’s management will remain in place. Chief executive Michiel Borst will become managing director of the renamed business and report within Durst Group’s management structure.

 

 

Durst said the purchase would combine its digital printing, software and automation capabilities with MPS’s flexographic technology, engineering and application expertise. The group expects this combination to support further integration between digital and flexographic printing, automation, software and finishing.

 

 

“Label production is becoming increasingly connected, automated and data-driven,” said Christoph Gamper, CEO and co-owner of Durst Group. He said the addition of MPS would broaden the group’s development options and help address different applications, run lengths and business models.

 

 

MPS’s direct sales channels will remain across Europe. In the United States, Durst US will take responsibility for sales and service of the MPS portfolio. Existing contracts and service commitments will remain in force.

 

 

Durst also confirmed that its partnership with OMET would continue independently. The companies will keep developing, manufacturing and marketing the KJet and XJet hybrid platforms through their established channels. Durst said the MPS acquisition would provide additional technology options rather than replace or duplicate its existing OMET-based hybrid offering for label and packaging converters.
